We are pleased to invite you to take part in a special tasting railway journey — “Wine of Borzhava Narrow Gauge Railway,” which will be held on 8 March, 2014. The event will be held at the International Festival of wine in Berehovo (8-10 March 2014).

The program includes:
▪ tour at the Irshava local history museum;
▪ photostop at Kamjanske station / hot drinks and cakes;
▪ photostop at Khmilnyk halt;
▪ tour at the Khmilnyk railway station / visiting arched railway bridge of 1884 year, mechanical semaphores and mechanical switches of 1889 year / locomotive shunting / tasting of branded winemaker Karlo Shosh’s wine;
▪ visiting the cattle ranch of breed “Hungarian gray” in Nyzhni Remety village / glintwine tasting;
▪ visiting winemaker Ivan Ursta in Velyki Berehy village / wine tasting;
▪ photostop at Kidosh station;
▪ tour at the depot Beregovo-small.

Date: 8 March 2014
Train departs: from Irshava station at 10:00 (Kiew time).
Route: Irshava — Khmilnyk station — Berehovo.
Train composition: Diesel locomotive TU2, two passenger cars PV40 and one wooden baggage car.
Duration: 5 hours

Borzhava Narrow Gauge Railway - popularly called " Antsya Kushnytska " - one of the existing narrow gauge railways in Ukraine and the last narrow gauge railway of Transcarpathia region.

The total length of railway - 123 km, gauge - 750 mm. Borzhava narrow-gauge railway was started in 1908 .  The narrow gauge railway was built by Hungarians, then it was finished and cared by the Czechs. The railway was used primarily to transport wood from the mountain ranges of Borzhava to Transcarpathian lowland.

During last 20 years the length of active routes of Borzhava NGR declined in three times. It had 120 km. length in 1986. This is not counting side branches and forest roads which were on the balance of wood plant. Now, the total length of track is about 70 kilometers. 25 km: Vynohradovo - Khmelnyk, 16 km: Khmelnyk - Irshava, Berehovo - Khmelnyk - about 27 kilometers. Today regular passenger services are provided only between the cities of Vinogradovo and Irshava.

2. By train from Lviv to Vynohradovo: train   №601Л Lviv - Solotvino (departure from Lviv at 20:40 / arriving to Vynohradovo at 05:53). And by narrow gauge train №6604 from Vinohradovo to Irshava (departure from Vynohradovo at 8:05  / arriving to Irshava at 9:57).

3. By train from Lviv to Mukachevo: train №099К Kyiv - Uzhgorod (departure from Lviv at 00:45 / arriving to Mukachevo at 05:08).
And by bus from Mukachevo to Irshava:
▪  Uzhgorod — Rakhiv (departure from Mukachevo at 6:45 / arriving to Irshava at 7:45);
▪  Mukachevo — Irshava (departure from Mukachevo at 8:00 / arriving to Irshava at 8:40).
